WELCOME
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
The Onychology Course (English Session) will take place on October 9th and 10th, 2026, at CHU Saint-Pierre in Brussels.
We are pleased to present this new edition, which reflects the continuous evolution of the course, combining academic rigor, clinical excellence, and innovation. Building on its established foundations, this session further expands its international dimension, bringing together a distinguished faculty of experts from across Europe and beyond.
This two-day course is designed to provide a comprehensive, practical, and up-to-date approach to nail disorders. Through a structured program ranging from fundamental principles to advanced topics, participants will benefit from a progressive and highly interactive learning experience.
Particular emphasis will be placed on imaging and artificial intelligence, which represent key developments in modern onychology. These themes will be explored from a clinical and surgical perspective, with the aim of providing a pragmatic and critical understanding of their current and future applications in daily practice.
The program will cover essential topics including normal nail anatomy and terminology, onychomycosis and mycological sampling, nail surgery techniques, and advanced imaging modalities. Special attention will be given to real-life practice through live surgery sessions, clinical case discussions, and interactive exchanges with the faculty.
Throughout the course, participants will benefit from:
• teaching adapted to different levels of experience
• a strongly clinical and practice-oriented approach
• dedicated opportunities for discussion and exchange with experts
Beyond knowledge and technical skills, this course aims to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a comprehensive approach to patient care.
We look forward to welcoming you in Brussels for this stimulating and forward-looking educational experience.

History
The inter-academic courses of onychology were created in order to meet the need of dermatologists interested in advancing their clinical and/ or surgical skills in nail pathology.
The three founding Members are passionate about onychology and teaching: Josette André, Nadine Lateur and Bertrand Richert.
Since 2008, there have been bi-annual courses (one in English, one in French) offered over two days (Friday and Saturday).
Friday morning is dedicated to nail physiology and basic nail pathology. This session is aimed at introducing the novice to basic concepts in nail diseases.
Friday afternoon is devoted to nail surgery on a large screen, live from the operating room. The audience may at any time intervene and ask questions to the surgeon or even to the patient.
Saturday is devoted to expert lectures delivered by a new speaker each year. Part of the day is reserved for interactive discussions by the experts and participants encouraged to bring their own cases.
